Brazilian media reported that officials believe they have discovered the oldest living person in the world, who is 121 years old, after a medical team visited her at her home for treatment. This discovery was made when the medical team traveled to the residence of Maria Gomes dos Reis in Bom Jesus da Lapa, Brazil, according to the Daily Mail. Gomes dos Reis was born on June 16, 1900, in Bom Jesus da Lapa in Bela Vista, according to her birth certificate. A Brazilian news outlet noted that all of Gomes' children have passed away, and she now lives with her granddaughter, Celia Gomes. To confirm Gomes dos Reis' place on the list of centenarians, she or her family will need to pay 4,000 Brazilian reals (about 800 dollars) and provide legal documents proving her age to the Guinness World Records.
