On Saturday, the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, MP Timour Jumblatt, visited Deir Al-Nahme accompanied by a delegation that included MPs Marwan Hamadeh and Raji Saad, the party's vice president Dr. Habouba Aoun, Dr. Naser Zaidan, and the interior agent of Chouf in the Progressive Party, Omar Ghanam. They were received by the General President of the Lebanese Maronite Order, Abbot Hadi Mahfoud, the head of Deir Al-Nahme, Father Samir Al-Ghaoui, along with several officials from the order and leaders of monasteries in the area, as well as Lawyer Abdullah Muslim.
A ceremonial lunch was held for Jumblatt and the accompanying delegation, during which Abbot Mahfoud spoke about the "historical relationship connecting Al-Mokhtar, the Jumblatt family, and the Progressive Socialist Party with the Lebanese Congregation," thanking Jumblatt and the accompanying delegation for their visit and wishing for "the continuation of cooperation for the good of the Mountain and Lebanon." He also congratulated Jumblatt on assuming the presidency of the Progressive Socialist Party, succeeding Walid Jumblatt, who is highly respected by the Lebanese congregation. In turn, MP Jumblatt thanked Abbot Mahfoud and the Lebanese congregation for the warm welcome, affirming "the cooperation that has existed with previous leaders of the congregation, including Abbot Basil Al-Hashem, who was lost to the congregation last week." He expressed hope for improved conditions and recovery for Lebanon from its crisis, in order to continue the path of cooperation in the future.
