The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, announced on Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated his intention to mediate in the Ukrainian settlement once the conflict involving Iran concludes.
In a press briefing, Peskov stated, "We have recently heard Mr. Trump express that upon resolving the issues surrounding the Iran conflict, he plans to return to his mediation efforts in the Ukrainian settlement."
On Wednesday, the Kremlin clarified that American envoys, Steve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner, are currently occupied with other matters. However, it believes that communication with them about Ukraine will resume once these matters are resolved.
Peskov's comments came in response to an inquiry about the possibility of involving other envoys in talks concerning Ukraine, due to Whitcoff and Kushner's current preoccupations, as reported by "Reuters."
Peskov observed, "We understand that communications will continue... Naturally, they are occupied with other issues right now, but they will eventually have time, and we rely on continuing our work." He added that Russia appreciates the envoys' efforts on the Ukrainian issue, describing them as "highly constructive." He noted, "They are open to listening to all parties, which is crucial at this time."
It is noteworthy that Whitcoff and Kushner are part of the U.S. delegation negotiating a final agreement to end the war with Iran.
