Amid ongoing clashes with Houthi militias, Yemeni forces launched 13 airstrikes targeting Houthi sites, gatherings, and vehicles, including a missile launch platform in the Al-Shariya, Dhi Na'im, Al-Bayda, and Al-Sawadiyah districts of Al-Bayda province.
Additionally, warplanes conducted a series of strikes targeting a command and control room, thermal sensing system, as well as Houthi gatherings at the top of Mount Nasa in the Morays front in Al-Dhalea province, according to the Yemeni Armed Forces Media Center.
The airstrikes also targeted Houthi gatherings and barracks on the southern fronts of Ma'rib.
Intense clashes erupted on Sunday with various weapons on the Al-Dabab front west of Taiz, including skirmishes in the areas of Al-Siyahi, Mount Han, and Mataa.
Yemeni forces announced their control over the city of Hayis southeast of Hodeidah.
Since Thursday, the Houthis launched an attack aiming to cut roads leading to the coastal city of Mocha, which faced continuous attacks over the last month, severing connections with other government-controlled areas and advancing towards the Bab al-Mandab strait.
A military source from the internationally recognized government based in Aden in the south stated that "the armed forces managed to establish positions north of Hayis after advancing in the area," referring to the directorate located on the front line, less than 30 kilometers from the Red Sea coast, as reported by Agence France-Presse.
Bab al-Mandab
Middle East expert at Chatham House, Fares Al-Muslimi, explained that the Houthis aim to exploit the combat front in Mocha and "cut communication lines between Taiz, Bab al-Mandab, and Mocha." He noted that the group is attempting to control Bab al-Mandab.
Adam Baron, a researcher at the American research center "New America," observed that the situation and confrontations are "increasingly escalating."
These battles are occurring amidst renewed escalation in the region between Iran and America, bringing Yemen back to the forefront of regional tension since July, with renewed Houthi attacks and threats to shipping and navigation.
The Yemeni government warned in August that the Houthis plan to take over the Bab al-Mandab coast, potentially threatening another vital waterway following Tehran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz after U.S. strikes on Iran, which sparked a war.
It is noted that the coastal areas overlooking Bab al-Mandab remain outside Houthi control, who hold the northern coastal city of Hodeidah near Mocha.
